This makes a 12 " block and is partly paper pieced, with the option to piece it all regularly! This is an original pattern. Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o) |

| The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page. When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Stairs to the Stars block! You will need to print out four copies of the PP template page and one copy of the REG temp page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. |

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

Using the square template provided on the REG templates page cut one center square from the Color 1 4" square. Now cut the Color 2 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles. Then cut the Color 3 2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make twelve half square triangles. Next cut the Color 4 2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Now cut the Color 4 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles... |

Now sew a Color 3 and Color 4 half square triangle right sides together in a 1/4" seam. Press to dark side. Make four of these. Sew another Color 3 half square triangle to the right (Color 4) edge of each one. Press seams to dark sides... |

Next, sew a Color 2 half square triangle to the left side of a Color 4 square. Add a Color 3 half square triangle on the opposite side of the square. Press seams towards triangles. Make four of these units... ...on to Page 2! |
