The first thing that I would
recommend that you do, is go to the Practice
Paper Piecing Page. When you feel comfy with paper
piecing, come on back and try a Wind and Stars Block! You will need to print out one
copy of the template page per block you want to make on very
lightweight paper. |
** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 and Color
3 3-7/8" x 11-5/8" strips into three 3-7/8"
squares of each... |
Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to
get six half square triangles of each. You only need five of each
for this block, so save the extras for another block or project!
Sew pairs of half square triangles right sides
together using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam to dark side.
Square these back to measure 3-1/2" if needed. Make five units
like this... |
Paper piece the lower left unit. Sew together three
half squares for the block's top row. Sew together two half squares
for the block's right side unit. Join the side half squares and the
paper pieced unit, then add the top row, and it's all done!
...on to Page 2! |
