The first thing that I would
recommend that you do, is go to the Practice
Paper Piecing Page. When you feel comfy with paper
piecing, come on back and try The North Star Block! You will need to print out
four copies of each template page per block you want to make on very
lightweight paper. A Fat Quarter of each fabric will be ample! I
used 2 blues, one gold, and a blue and gold print. |

After your units are paper pieced, sew four of the corner units shown
at left, starting from a point 1/4" from the inner intersection,
out to the edge of the unit. Press seams open...
To sew the star portion of the block, mark a 1/4" point on each
end of the base of the star bases, and on all four corners of the
Color 1 square. Matching these points, sew between them, using a 1/4" seam. Repeat this with the opposite star point...
..and again with the two adjacent star points...
Now line up a corner unit with the top side of the left hand star
point, and sew a scant 1/4" seam from the 1/4 point out to the
tip of the star...on to Page
2!
