** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by marking and cutting the Color 1
3-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip into three 3-1/2" squares...
Then cut the following Color 1 pieces: two 2" squares, one half
square triangle cut from a 6-7/8" square, one half square
triangle cut from a 3-7/8" square...
Now cut one Color 2 3-7/8" square in half once on the
diagonal to make two half square triangles...
Then mark and cut the Color 3 3-1/2" x 13" strip into
two 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles. Cut one Color 3
3-1/2" square. Cut two Color 3 3-7/8" squares, and cut
each in half once on the diagonal to make four half square
triangles...
Now, using the templates provided, cut one base unit from Color 1, two
base unit triangles from Color 3, and two larger triangle units from
Color 2...
Sew the two small template-cut Color 3 triangles to the sides of the
Color one base unit, using 1/4" seams and pressing the
seams out towards the triangles. Sew the Color 1 half square triangle
to this pieced unit to make the block's lower left unit. Press seam
