This makes a 6" block, and is paper pieced! :o)

Click the image at left to get the paper piecing templates!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Swing in the Center! You will need to print out four copies of each of the three smaller units, and one copy of the larger unit needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat Quarters should be plenty!

After your paper piecing units are made, join them as shown at left. Starting at the outer edge, sew the three piece -with-diamond unit to the two piece unit as far as the pivot point. Fold the unit right sides together so the two un sewn seams are together and continue sewing  to the edge. Make four units like this...

Now sew one of the units you just made to the left of a corner strip unit, and then another to the right. Make two units like this...

Sew the long center strip unit between the two units you just made, and that's it! ...on to Page 2!
