Fat Quarters should be plenty!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try an Origami Star and Cross Block! You will need to print out one copy of the template A page and two copies of the template B page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

After your units are paper pieced, lay them out as shown at left. Sew the top three units together, then the middle three and then the bottom three. Join these three rows, pivoting the fabric at the squares edges slightly as you sew, and there's the block!

The quilt is four blocks by five, and since all these wonderful secondary pattern circles appeared, I filled the corner triangles of SOME blocks with various blue and turquoise prints!

Happy Quilting!
