The first thing that I would
recommend that you do, is go to the Practice
Paper Piecing Page. When you feel comfy with paper
piecing, come on back and try a Montana Mountain Maze Block! You will need to print out
two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very
lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be plenty! |

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 4" x 20"
strip into twenty 2" squares...
|

|
Next mark and cut the Color 2 4" x 13" strip
into four 2" x 6-1/2" rectangles...
|
|
|
Then mark and cut the Color 3 4" x 13" strip
into four 2" x 6-1/2" rectangles...
|
|
|
Now mark and cut the Color 3 2" x 8" strip into four
2" squares...
|
|
|
Place a small Color 1 square right sides together and outside edges
aligned against each end of a Color 2 rectangle. On the back of the
small square lightly draw the diagonals in the direction shown. Sew ON
these drawn lines. Trim off the excess seam allowance and press the
remainder towards the triangles. Make four units like this...

long edge, using a 1/4" seam allowance. Make four units
