** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
|
|
Start by cutting the Color 1, 2, 3, and 4 2-3/8" x 11-7/8"
strips into five 2-3/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut
them once on the diagonal to make ten half square triangles of
each... |
|
|
Now cut the Color 5 4-1/4" square in half
along both diagonals to get four quarter square triangles. Using the
templates provided cut one square and four pentagons from the Color
5 7" x 20" strip. Cut the Color 5 4" x
16" strip into sixteen 2" squares. Cut the Color 5
2-3/8" x 9-1/2" strip into four 2-3/8" squares. Stack
these and cut them into eight half square triangles...Finally! Let's
Sew! |
|
|
Using a scant 1/4" seam now and throughout the
block making, sew one of each color half square triangles to the
center square, sewing opposing sides first then the two adjacent
sides. Starting at the upper left corner and looking clockwise
around the center square, should be Color 4, Color 1, Color 2 and
Color 3. This unit when done should measure 3-1/2"... |
|
|
Now sew two of each of the colored half square triangles together
with Color 5 half square triangles to make two of each of the combos
shown at left. Trim these to measure 2" if needed...on to Page
