This makes an 8" block, is paper pieced, and is from the late1800's-early 1900's !

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try an Everybody's Favorite Block! You will need to print out one copy of each template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat quarters will be plenty!

After your units are paper pieced, join the block's center units. Sew the shorter side striped units to the left and right. Add the top and bottom strips, and it's finished!

Here, on its side, are four blocks by five with a simple pieced border, and then a straight border!
