The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Crow's Beak block. You will need to print out four copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper, though you only will need to cut ONE center square from your background fabric. A Fat Quarter of each color will be plenty!

First paper piece all four of your "beaks" units. Line up the center square right sides together to the left bottom edge of one "dark gray" beak unit. Using a scant 1/4" seam, sew from the left edge to a point 1/4" from the inner edge of the square. Backstitch one stitch at this point to secure. Press seam allowance towards the beak...

Working counter-clockwise, add a light gray beak unit to the left side of the previous unit, pressing seam towards the beak...

...then add a dark gray unit to the next open edge of the center square, pressing seam towards the beak...

...on to Page 2!
