...and is part Paper Piecing, part regular templates.

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Courthouse Star! You will need to print out four copies of each pieced triangle unit, and one copy of the center unit needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Also cut out one copy of the square template, and one copy of the larger triangle template. Cut your side triangles and squares using these templates; four of each are needed. These are regular templates, and won't need to be paper pieced. I recommend that you remove your paper as soon as the individual units are pieced on this one. Fat quarters will be great for this one!

After you have all of your paper piecing done, make two rows as shown at left, joining two PP triangles to each side of the side triangles. Sew a background square to either end. Use all SCANT 1/4" seams!

Now sew two of the side units to the right and left of the center courthouse square, again using all SCANT 1/4" seams...

Piece the block by joining your rows, and be sure to alternate pressing directions to keep your seams flat! :o

...now on to Page 2!
