Next sew a Color 3 1-1/2" x
12" strip to a Color 2 strip of the same size. Add another
Color 2 strip to the bottom of that unit. Press seam allowances
towards the darker strips. Mark and cut this at 1-1/2"
intervals... |

Sew the last Color 2 1-1/2" x
6" strip to a Color 3 strip of the same size, and add another
color 3 strip to the bottom of that unit. Press seam allowances
towards the darker strip. Cut this apart at 1-1/2" intervals... |

The sew four nine patch squares as shown at
left, using the units you just made... |

Now sew the flying geese units,
by placing a Color 1 3-1/2" square right sides together
and all edges aligned with one end of a Color 3 rectangle. On
the back of the top square, lightly draw the diagonal, and sew on
that marked line. Cut off the excess seam allowance, leaving
1/4". Repeat this with another square on the other end. Make
four of these units... |

Piece the blocks center as shown
at left, using the four patch units, and the separate Color 2 and
Color 3 squares. Alternate pressing directions by row... |

Now piece the block as shown at
left, using the nine patches, the geese and the center unit...again
alternating pressing directions by row...and that's it... now if
being a Bride were just this easy! :o)
