A Fat Quarter of each fabric should be plenty!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try Aunt Vinah's Favorite! You will need to print out four copies of each of the corner units, four copies of each of the side units and two copies of  the center unit per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

Since there are quite a few units to Paper Piece on this one, I show the number you will need in their appropriate colors at left :o)

Sew each dark corner unit to a light corner unit as shown at left, using as always a SCANT 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric. Make four corner units like this...

Then sew four side units, again using a SCANT 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the darker unit...

Make one center unit as shown at left...

Piece the previously made units into rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the outside, and the middle row to the inside, to keep the seams staggered...and You Are Done! ...on to Page 2!
