The first thing that I would
recommend that you do, is go to the Practice
Paper Piecing Page. When you feel comfy with paper
piecing, come on back and try an All Ways Block! You will need to print out
two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very
lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be ample! |

** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 2-1/2" x 10"
strip into four 2-1/2" squares...
Next mark and cut the Color 2 2-1/2" x 10" strip into
four 2-1/2" squares...
Next speed piece the half squares, by stacking the Color 1 and Color 2
2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strips, right sides together and all edges
aligned. On the back of the top strip, lightly mark the 2-7/8"
square lines and mark the diagonals in the direction shown at left.
Now sew 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals,
pivoting at the square lines. Now cut apart ON the marked diagonals,
and on the 2-7/8" square lines. This will give you eight half
squares. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric. These should measure 2-1/2"...
Using all 1/4" seam allowances, join sixteen squares and
half squares to make the block's center...
...on to Page 2!
