Like Crazy Quilting, Puff Quilting is a METHOD, more than a patterned thing, so I will attempt to describe that method here!

There is another, similar method, called pillow quilting, which I will describe further along the page... :o)

Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

In Puff Quilting, you work with a base square, a larger top square, stuffing, and a lining. The base square can be muslin, or any fabric of your choosing that will wash well! The top square is cut 1 1/2 times larger than the base square, and is tucked on all four sides to fit the smaller back square. To begin, you pin your larger top square to the base square, wrong side of the top fabric DOWN, pinning the tucks and the corners...

Then, baste through both layers, leaving an opening on one side past the tuck to stuff the square. Stuff the square with the filler of your choice, quite full!, and then slip stitch the opening closed...

Squares are then joined, right sides together...
Then, when you have enough "puffs" sewn and joined to make the desired size quilt, the whole thing gets lined to hide the back squares, seams, and basting. You cut the lining the same size as the finished puff top,   place it atop the RIGHT side of the quilt top, right sides together. Stitch on all sides, leaving an opening to turn it right sides out....
