This makes a 12" block!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1 rectangle into sixteen 2" squares...

Next, cut the Color 3 rectangle into eight  2" x 3-1/2" rectangles...

Then, cut the Color 4   2" x 8" strip into four 2" squares...

Now cut the Color 4   4" x 20" rectangle into eight 2" x 5" rectangles...

Next, sew the Color 2 and Color 4 2" x 16" strips together along one long edge, right sides together, sewing with a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards darker fabric .Mark this combo at 2" intervals, and cut into eight segments, as shown ...

To begin, sew two of the combo units right sides together, using a scant 1/4" seam. Make four of these four patch squares. Trim to a 3-1/2" square if needed...

 

 

Then, sew a Color 4   2" square to one end of a Color 3 rectangle, right sides together and using the same scant  1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric. Make four of these...on to Page 2!
