** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 7"
x 13" strip into four 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles... |
Then mark and cut the Color 2 8" x
18" strip into thirty-six 2" squares... |
Now mark and cut the Color 3 3-1/2" x
14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares... |
Now let's sew the block's corner units. To do this
place a Color 2 square right sides together and edges lined up with
the upper left corner of a Color 3 3-1/2" square. (I show
them staggered here just so you can see what I am doing) On the back
of the small square draw in the diagonal, and sew ON this drawn
line. Cut off the excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder
towards the corner triangle. Repeat this with another Color 2 square
on the opposing corner, and then on the two adjacent corners. Trim,
this unit back to measure 3-1/2" if needed. Make four units
like this... |

Following the same procedure as above, sew off the
corners of the four Color 1 rectangles...on to Page
2! |
