** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

Start by cutting the Color 2 2-7/8" x
11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Cut them once on
the diagonal to make eight half square triangles... |

Next cut the Color 3 2-1/2" x 10"
strip into four 2-1/2" squares... |
|
|
Next, stack and cut the Color 1 and Color 3
5-1/4" squares and cut on both diagonals to make four quarter
square triangles of each color. Sew pairs of these triangle together
as shown at left, and press to the dark side. You will be making
four of these pieced triangles... |

To make each quarter of the block, sew a Color 2
quarter square triangle to the right and bottom edges of a Color 3
square, using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, and pressing the
seams towards the triangle additions. Now add a pieced triangle from
the step above, pressing this time towards that new addition... |

Sew four of these units together to complete your
block!...on to Page 2! |
