This makes a 10" block ! I'm
showing this in five Red Rooster tan fabrics, as they remind me of
the leaves we have left on the trees in November, and of my niece
Kate and her beau Jamie, getting married this month! :o) |

** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
Start off by cutting the Color 1 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip
into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the
diagonal to make eight half square triangles... |
Now cut the Color 2 2-7/8 x 5-3/4" strip into
two 2-7/8" squares, and again cut them in half on the diagonal,
making four half square triangles... |
Then cut the Color 3 2-7/8 x 5-3/4" strip into two
2-7/8" squares, and also cut them in half on the diagonal,
making four half square triangles... |
Next cut the Color 4 2-1/2' x 10" strip into four
2-1/2" squares... |
Lastly, cut the Color 5 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip into
five 2-1/2" squares. Cut the Color 5 2-7/8" x 23" strip
into eight 2-7/8" squares, and then cut those in half once on
the diagonal to make sixteen half square triangles... |
Using a 1/4" seam, sew pairs of half square triangles
together in the numbers shown at left, pressing seams to the
darker sides. To Clarify: you need EIGHT of the Color 1/Color 5
combo...FOUR of the Color 2 /Color 5 combo and FOUR of the Color
3/Color 5 combo. These should measure 2-1/2" ...Now
