Here's one of the 2" x 7" strips...

Now I have the trapezoid template laid on the
2" x 7" strip, and the triangle template laid on a scrap
that was 6" wide---*you'll be using 6" squares! |

Both units have been cut out. Place them on a flat
surface as they will be sewn... |

Flip the bottom unit, the trapezoid, up onto the
bottom of the triangle so the two units are now right sides
together, and the bottom edge is aligned. * Note the green arrow is
pointing to the "V" made where the seam lines will
intersect...this is how it should be! |

Now I've sewn the 1/4"seam line, and the
stitching will exactly fall in that "V"... |

...and here's it is, all sewn together! :o) |
