Triangles - Page 2

Next, using a 1/4" seam now and throughout the block-making, sew Color 3 half square triangles to the top and bottom of a half square units. Press seams towards triangles. Add a Color 1 half square triangle, pressing seam towards that new addition. Make four units like this for the block's four corner units...

Now, to make the center unit, place a Color 2  2-1/2" square right sides together atop one corner of the Color 3 large rectangle with outer edges aligned. (Again, I show this staggered just so you can see what I am doing) On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew on this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the new corner. Repeat this with another Color 2 square on each of the other corners of the rectangle. This should measure 4-1'2" x 8-1/2"...

In the same way that you made the center unit above, sew Color 2 squares to both ends of two Color 3  2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles to make two flying geese units. Then do the same procedure with Color 1 squares on the last four Color 3 rectangles to make four flying geese units...

Make two units as shown at left, sewing one of each color flying geese unit together with the Color 1 "goose unit" on top...

Now lay out all the units as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the outside and the middle row seam to the center...on to Page 3!
