Now place a Color 1 2-1/2" square right
sides together and outside edges aligned with the Color 2
4-1/2" square. On the back of the small square draw in the
diagonal and sew on this drawn line. Cut off the excess seam
allowance and press the remainder towards the corner. Repeat this
with another Color 2 square on the opposite corner, and then on the
two adjacent corners. Trim to measure 4-1/2" if needed... |

Lay out all the block's units as shown at left. Sew
three horizontal rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the
outside and the middle row seam to the center. Sew the rows
together, and it's done! |

Here are three blocks by four
with sashings to float the stars. Coping strips are around it all,
then a border of half squares!
