As with many applique patterns,
fabric choice is going to be everything with this Toad! The print I
used here is a Maywood fabric made to look like small brown
stones...to me, this said, "Toad Skin"! Look for some nice
mottled browns for this block! You may FUSE this toad, in which case
just use the templates as they are and fuse fabrics in place... or
use needle turn applique. You'll need to add seam allowances to the
templates for needle turn. |

First lay out all of your pieces
against whatever background you have chosen. When you are satisfied
with the arrangement, remove all but the left legs and the belly piece. Pin this on,
and applique in place using thread to match the belly, and the
legs... |
|
|
Next pin on the body piece (cut out as all one piece)
slightly overlapping the belly. Tuck the little right hand black eye
piece under the right hand eyelid. Pin these down and applique in
place using threads to match... |
|
|
Now pin on and applique
the
left hand eyelid piece using thread to match the eyelid...on to Page
2! |
