** Preparing
the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
First, mark and cut the Color 3
6-1/2" x 32-1/2" strip into five 6-1/2" squares... |
Then cut the Color 4 and Color 3
2-1/2" x 20" strips into eight 2-1/2" squares each... |
Next cut the Color 3 2-1/2" x 26" strip into four 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles... |
Now we'll cut the squares and
triangles that will be half squares. Cut the Color 3 5-3/4" x 34-1/2"
strip into 24 2-7/8" squares and cut them again diagonally to make forty-eight
triangles. Cut the Color 1 and Color 2 2-7/8" x 34-1/2" strip into 12
2-7/8" squares each, and cut those diagonally also, to make 24 triangles of
each...now... |
Sew a Color 4 2-1/2" square to a color 3 2-1/2" square, using a 1/4"
seam. Press seam towards darker fabric. Add another Color 3 2-1/2" square. Make
two of these units. Then make two units from Color 4/ Color3/ Color4/ Color3/Color4
2-1/2" squares... same 1/4" seams... |
Sew the two three piece strips
from the step we just completed to the top and bottom of one 6-1/2" square, pressing
seams towards center square. Sew the two five piece strips to the two sides, pressing
seams towards strips...on to Page 2! |
