** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
|

Start by marking and cutting the Color 2 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" strip into two 1-1/4" squares... |
|
|
The mark and cut the Color 3 2-1/2" x 5" strip into two 2-1/2" squares... |
|
|
Now using the templates provided, cut the shapes shown at left... |
|

Place the small Color 2 squares right sides together against the appropriate corners of the Color 3 trapezoids. Sew them together along the diagonal of the small squares. Trim off the extra seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the small triangles... |

Now sew the trunk rectangle between the two background trapezoids, using a 1/4" seam , and pressing seams towards the trunk Sew the background triangle to the bottom of this, pressing seam towards the triangle. Sew the large Tree triangle to the trunk unit, pressing seam towards the tree triangle. This unit should measure 6-1/2"... |
