Start by stacking and cutting the Color 1 and Color 2
6-7/8" squares once on the diagonal to make two half square
triangles of each...

|
Now cut the Color 1 and Color 2 3-7/8" x 15-1/2"
strips into four 3-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut once
on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles of each...
|
|
|
Sew together four pairs of the smaller half square triangles, right
sides together and using a 1/4" seam. Press seam to the
dark side and trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed...
|
|
|
Now sew two of each unit shown at left, by adding small half
squares to adjacent sides of the half squares we just made. Note the
orientation of the half squares! It Matters!
|
|
|
To each darker pieced half square triangle add a Color 2 larger half
square triangle, and to each lighter one, add a Color 1...
