Lay out four Color 2 squares, the four blue rectangle units, and the
Color 1 4-1/2" square to form a star as shown at left.
Using 1/4" seams (now and throughout out the block making)
sew the horizontal rows. Press the top and bottom rows to the outside,
and the middle row to the center. Join the three rows to complete the
block's center unit...

Using Color 1 pieced shorter rectangles, sew pairs together to make
four of the units shown at top left. To the ends of TWO of those, sew
Color 2 squares...

|
Sew the shorter of the pieced rectangle pairs made in the step
above to the left and right of the center star. Sew the longer ones to
the top and bottom of the center star...

|
Then, using the LONGER rectangle units, again sew together pairs to
make four of the units shown at left. Then sew Color 2 squares to the
ends of TWO of those pairs...

|
To complete the block, sew the shorter of the pairs made in the
step above to the left and right of the block, and then the longer
units to the top and bottom! You did it! Congratulations!...on to Page
3!
