To make the Half Square units place a Color 4 and a Color
2 2-7/8" square right sides together and all edges
aligned. Lightly draw in the diagonal on the back of the top square,
and then stitch a scant 1/4" away from the drawn line on each
side of it. Then cut on the drawn line between the two rows of
stitching to get two Half Squares. Press seam to darker side, and trim
each to measure 2-1/2" if needed.
Repeat this with the other Color 2 2-7/8" square and the
Color 1 2-7/8" square to get two more Half Squares in that
color combination...

|
Now, using a 1/4" seam for the rest of the block
construction, make one of each of the two units shown at left,
pressing the seams towards the square. These each use a Color 2
2-1/2" square paired with a Color 2/Color4 Half Square. *Note
that the orientation of the Half Square gets reversed!...
|
|
|
Then use four of the Color 4 2-1/2" squares to make a
same-colored four patch unit...
|
|
|
Next sew two of each of the pieced rectangle units shown at left.
Press seams to darker sides. These should measure 2-1/2" x
4-1/2". Again *Note that the orientation of the
triangles is reversed!...on to Page 3!
