** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

Using the template provided cut eight triangles from the Color 1 2-1/2" x 20" strip. Mark and cut the Color 1 1-1/2" x 6" strip into four 1-1/2" squares... |

Mark and cut the Color 2 3" x 7" strip into four 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" rectangles... |
|

Using the template provided cut four triangles from the Color 3 3-1/2" x 23" strip. Mark and cut the Color 3 2" x 8" strip into four 2" squares... |

Join the template-cut triangles as shown at left, using 1/4" seams and pressing towards the darker fabric. These should measure 2" x 5-1/2". Make four units like this...If you prefer to Paper Piece this unit....CLICK HERE for the templates! |

Sew the small Color 1 squares to both ends of two Color 2 rectangles, pressing seams towards the darker color.... |

Sew the remaining Color 2 rectangles to the sides of the Color 3 3-1/2" square, using the same old 1/4" seam, and pressing seams towards the center square. Add the pieced Color 2 rectangle units to the top and bottom, pressing seams towards the newly added strips...on to Page 2! |
