** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Now sew the Color 4 and Color 5  1-1/2" x 12" strips right sides together along one long edge using a 1/4" seam allowance. Press to the dark side. Cut apart into eight 1-1/2" wide sections. Sew pairs of these together to form two Four Patch units...

Now make two of the units shown at left, by sewing together Four Patches and Color 3 squares...

Stack the Color 1 and Color 2  4-7/8" squares right sides together. On the back of the top square lightly draw in the diagonal. Stitch on both sides of the drawn line, a scant 1/4" away. Cut apart on the drawn line. Press to dark side. This will give you two half squares. Trim to measure 4-1/2" if needed...

Now join the half squares and Four Patches to complete your Sickle Variation block!

Wasn't this one easy!?...on to Page 2!
