First mark and cut the Color 1 2-1/2" x
20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares... |
|
|
Now mark and cut the Color 1 2-1/2" x
18" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles... |
|
|
Next, mark and cut the Color 2 2-1/2" x
18" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles... |
|
|
Mark and cut the Color 2 2-1/2" x 20"
strip into eight 2-1/2" squares... |
|
|
Then, mark and cut the Color 3
2-1/2" x
10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...
|
|
|
Speed piece the half square units by stacking the
Color 1 and Color 3 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strips right sides together. On the
back of the top strip lightly mark the
2-7/8" square lines. Mark the diagonals in the direction shown at left.
Now sew 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting at the 2-7/8" square lines. Cut apart ON the marked diagonals, and on the 2-7/8"
square lines. This will give you eight half square units. Press seam allowances towards
the darker fabrics. These should measure 2-1/2"... |

To sew the flying geese units, place a color 2
2-1/2" square atop the left end of a Color 1 rectangle, right sides together.
Lightly mark the diagonal on the back of the Color 2 square. Sew on this diagonal. Cut off
the excess seam allowance and press the remainder towards the rectangle. Repeat this with
another Color 2 square on the other end. Make four of these units...on
to Page 2! |
