** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

Using the template provided cut four Color 2 half square triangles from the 3" x 6" strip... |

Next sew the Color 4 and Color 5 1-1/2" x 12" strips right sides together along one long edge, using a 1/4" seam. Press seam to darker side. Cut at 1-1/2" intervals. Sew together pairs of strips to make four Four Patch units... |

Now cut the Color 1 2-7/8" x 17-1/4" strip into six 2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make twelve half square triangles. Then cut the Color 5 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack those and cut them in half once as well to make eight half square triangles. Sew together four Color 1 and four Color 5 triangles to make eight half squares as shown at lower left. Trim each to measure 2-1/2" if needed... |
