This makes a 6" block!
Great for borders! :o)

and Conditions of use! :o) |

I suggest that you pick two
floral prints from the same fabric line, a small and a medium floral
print!

|
** Preparing the Pieces
and Sewing the Block **
|
|
|
Start by marking and cutting the
Color 3 4" x 6-1/2" rectangle into two 2" x
6-1/2" strips...*Note! If you are using a directional print for
your fence pieces, be sure to have both the fence posts and the
cross posts going in the right direction! :o) |
|
|
Then mark and cut the Color
1 1-1/4" x 5" strip into four 1-1/4" squares... |
|
|
Now sew a Color 3
1-1/4" x 4" strip to the bottom of the Color 1
2" x 4" strip...then sew the Color 1 2-3/4" x
4" strip to the bottom of that... |
|
Next, add the second Color
3 1-1/4" x 4" strip. Lastly add the Color 2
1-1/4" x 4" strip to the very bottom. Use all 1/4" seams for these. Press seams towards the darker fabrics.
Cut this unit at the 2" point as shown. ( In half,
vertically)... |
|
|
To make the pickets, place a
Color 1 small square right sides together with the top left end of a
Color 3 2" x 6-1/2" strip. Mark the diagonal on the
back of the small square, and sew ON the marked Line. Cut off the
excess seam allowance of the small square only. Press the remainder towards the outer
corner. Repeat this with another small square on the top right
corner. Make two units like this...
