** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 3-7/8" x 19-3/8" strip into five 3-7/8" squares. Stack and cut these again on
the diagonal to make ten half square triangles... |
Now cut the Color 1 3-1/2" x 10-1/2"
strip into three 3-1/2" squares... |
Then mark and cut the Color 2 3-7/8" x 11-5/8" into three 3-7/8" square. Stack and cut these again on the diagonal
to make six half square triangles... |
Now mark and cut the Color 2 3-1/2" x
17-1/2" strip into five 3-1/2" squares... |
Next mark and cut the Color 3 3-1/2" x 25" strip into two 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangles...and now... |
Sew three of the Color 1 half square triangles to
Color 2 half square triangles. Sew the remaining Color 1 half square triangles to seven
calico half square triangles of your choosing. Sew the remaining Color 2 half square
triangles to three random calico half square triangles... |
Now piece the rectangle units, by placing a Color 2
3-1/2" square right sides together atop one end of a Color 3 rectangle. On the
back of the small square mark the diagonal. Sew on this diagonal line. Cut off excess seam
allowance. Press the remainder towards the rectangle. Repeat this with another Color 2
3-1/2" square on the other end of the rectangle. Make another of these units
using Color 1 squares...on to Page 2! |
