Now place a Color 2 small square right sides together atop a Color 3 rectangle, with outer edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew ON this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the triangles. Repeat this with another Color 2 square on the other end of the rectangle. Make four of these. Sew Color 2 squares to both ends of two of those. Sew the other two to the center unit we made in the step above. Now add the two with the squares on the ends to complete the center of the block... |

Now place a Color 1 small square right sides together atop a Color 3 rectangle, with outer edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew ON this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the triangles. Make four with the triangle slanting in one direction, and four more with the triangle slanting in the opposite direction, as shown at top left. Sew one of each of these on each side of the four side units made in the step above. Sew red squares to the ends of two of these units... |

Now lay out all units as shown at left. Sew the shorter side units to the sides of the center unit. Add the longer units to the top and bottom and your Our Country block is done!...on to Page 3! |
