** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
From the two 2-1/2" by width of fabric strips cut
the units shown at left...one 2-1/2" x 14-1/2", two
2-1/2" x 10-1/2"", two 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" and two
2-1/2" squares... |
Cut the Color 1 and Color 2 2-7/8" x
34-1/2" strips into twelve 2-7/8" squares of each... |
Place one square of each color right sides together
with all edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly draw
in the diagonal, and then stitch 1/4" away from the
drawn line on each side of it. Cut apart on the drawn line. This
will give you two Half Squares. Press seam to the dark side. Repeat
this with all the 2-7/8" squares to make a total of
twenty-four Half Squares. These should measure 2-1/2"...
Use 1/4" seams now and throughout the block
making. Next sew the Half Squares together to make the units shown
at left, that's two left-facing groups of three, two right-facing
groups of three, two left-facing groups of two and two right-facing
groups of two. You will have four single Half Squares left...on to Page
