Cut the Color 1 1-1/2" x 12" strip into eight 1-1/2" squares. Now cut the Color 1 2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles... |

From the Color 2 1-1/2" x 36" strip cut four 1-1/2" x 6-1/2" strips and four 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" strips. Use the template provided to cut four trapezoids from the Color 1 2" x 18" strip... |

Using 1/4" seam allowances now and throughout the block making, sew one of the units at left. Press seam allowances to the dark side... |

Now add a Color 1 trapezoid to the top and bottom, and then to the left and right sides., matching the center of each long side of the traps to the centers of the sides of the nine patch unit. Now add Color 1 half square triangles to the corners, again, matching the centers of the long side of the triangles to the centers of the slant sides of the blocks middle unit... |
