To make the blocks
center, sew
a Color 2 half square triangle to opposite sides of the Color 1 square. Press seam allowances
out. Then sew a quarter square triangle to the remaining two opposite
sides, and again press the seams out... |

Now sew a Color 3 half square
triangle to opposite sides of the center , pressing seams out. Then add two more triangles to the other two sides, pressing seams
out. This unit should measure8-1/2" at this point... |

Now piece the block, by
first making rows, and then joining the rows to make the block! Use
1/4" seams
throughout, and remember to alternate pressing directions by row to avoid those uggy bulky
seams! |

Here's a quilt...a tad
different...as the blocks are separated by strips of Color 1 and extra left and right
columns of the main block...
