This makes a 12" block!

I made this one to have a LOT of one color, so...just right to make a quilt for your purple fan...blue fiend...yellow lover...etc! For me, of course...it would have to be RED! :o)

This is an original pattern. Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  6" x 15" strip into four 3" x 7-1/2" rectangles. Next cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 12" strip into four 2-1/2" x 3" rectangles. Now cut the Color 1  3-3/8" x 6-3/4" strip into two 3-3/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...

Cut the Color 2  3" x 12" strip into four 3" squares. Then cut the Color 2  3-3/8" x 6-3/4" strip into two 3-3/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles...You're also cutting one Color 2  2-1/2" square-not shown...

Next, sew all the Color 1 and Color 2 half square triangles right sides together in pairs as shown at left.. Use a 1/4"seam allowance now and throughout the block construction. Press to the dark side. Trim to measure 3" if needed...

Sew the block's center using the smaller Color 1 rectangles, the Color 2  3" squares, and the Color 2  2-1/2" square...

Sew two of the larger Color 1 rectangles to the left and right of the block's center unit. Press seams towards the rectangles. Sew half squares to the ends of the remaining larger rectangles, pressing seams towards rectangles. Add those to the block's center to complete your block! ...on to Page 2!
