Then cut the Color 7 and Color 8 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strips into four 2-7/8" squares of each. As in the step above, use pairs of these to make Half Square units, trimming them to measure 2-1/2" if needed. You will get eight Half Squares, but will only need seven for this block... |

Next sew together one of each of the pieced units shown above the dotted line at left. The first is made of five small Half Square units plus the one Color 8 1-1/2" square. The second is made of five small Half Square units facing in the opposite direction. Press the seams of these all in one direction. Add the shorter unit to the right edge of the Log Cabin unit, then add the longer unit to the top... |

Now sew together the large Half Square units to make the two groupings shown at left. The first is made of three Half Squares, and the second is made of four Half Squares facing in the opposite direction. Sew the shorter unit to the bottom of the block, and then the longer unit to the left side ...now on to Page 3! |
