Now sew a Color 2 side triangle to one end of a small Color 1 rectangle. Add a Color 2 square on the other end. Then add another Color 1 rectangle to the other side of the square. Lastly add a Color 2 side triangle to the far end. Make two units like this...

Sew a Color 2 corner triangle to one end of a small Color 1 rectangle. Sew the large Color 2 rectangle to the other end. Add another Color 1 small rectangle, and then another Color 2 corner triangle...

Now lay out all your pieced strips as shown at left. Sew the rows together, and you have a completed block! Square this off to measure 8-1/2" if needed...on to Page 3!

SOME SEAM PRESSING TIPS!

Press!...don't SLIDE!  Sliding your iron can stretch the fabric, especially those with bias edges! When pressing any seam, first press the seam together to set the stitches into the fabric. Then press the seam to the side, generally towards the darker fabric. Lastly, carefully press on the right side of the fabric.
