** Preparing the
Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
Sew together the Color 1 and Color 2 2-1/2"
x 12-1/2" strips as shown at left, using a scant
1/4" seam, and pressing seams to the darker side. Mark and cut
this at 2-1/2" intervals...
Now sew together the Color 1 and Color 2
2-1/2" x 5" strips as shown at left, and again press to
the dark sides. Mark at cut this at the 2-1/2" point... |
Make the block's center unit by sewing together the
strip units we just made using the same scant 1/4" seam
allowance. Use three from the first set, and the two from the second
set... |
Mark and cut the Color 1 and Color 2 2-7/8"
x 5-3/4" strips into two 2-7/8" squares of each. Stack the
squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square
triangles of each... |
Sew the half square triangles together in pairs
as shown at left, using a scant 1/4" seam, and press seam to
the dark side. Trim this back to measure 2-1/2" if needed. Make
four units like this...on to Page 2! |
