4 Blocks x 6 Blocks makes a perfect Project Linus Quilt Sized Quilt!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First stack and cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 18" strips into eight 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...

Then cut the Color 2  5" x 22-1/2" strip into eighteen 2-1/2" squares. You will only need seventeen of this for this block...

Now cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 18" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...

For the block's corners, place a Color 2 square atop the left end of a Color 1 rectangle, right sides together and edges aligned. On the back of the square draw the diagonal in the direction shown at left. Sew on this drawn line. Cut off the excess seam allowance and press the remainder towards the triangle. Repeat this with another square on the other end of the rectangle, drawing the diagonal in the opposite direction. Make four of these flying geese units in total. Make four more rectangle units in the same manner, but with the seam lines of these facing in the same direction (squares sewn on opposing corners this time), as shown in the bottom two illustrations at left (make two of each)...

Sew the first rectangle unit we just made to the second. Make four of these units...

For rows 1 and 3, sew a corner unit to a Color 3 rectangle along one long side. Add another corner unit. Press seam allowances in alternating directions. Make two of these...on to Page 2!
