** Preparing
the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
First, mark and cut
your Color 1 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8"
squares. Stack
these with edges aligned, and cut together once on the diagonal to make
eight half square triangles... |
Do the same with
your Color 3 strip of the same size... |
Next cut
your Color 1 4-1/2" x
10" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles... |
...and do the same
with your Color 2 strip of the same size... |
Sew your Color
2 and Color 3 2-1/2" x 10" strips together along one long edge, using a
scant 1/4" seam, and pressing seam allowances towards darker
fabric. Cut this new unit into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" two color
rectangles... |
Start by sewing one
of your two color rectangles to the right side of one Color 2 rectangle.
Make
two of these units. Then make two with the two color unit sewn to the left side of
the rectangle... |
Now sew a Color
1 triangle to a Color 3 triangle, using a scant 1/4" seam, pressing seam allowances
towards darker fabrics. Make eight of these half triangle squares, then sew two
together in pairs as shown Make four of these units... |
Sew them to one
long side of a Color 1 rectangle, as shown. Make four of these units...on
