** Preparing the Pieces and
Sewing the Block
** |
Start by cutting the Color 1 (Road fabric) 4-1/2" x 13-1/2"
strip into three 4-1/2" squares...
Next cut the Color 2 2-1/2" x 5" strip into two
2-1/2" squares...
Then cut the Color 3 2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two
2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal...
Now cut the Color 4 5" x 20" strip into sixteen
2-1/2" squares...
Lastly, you need eight randomly colored 2-1/2" squares, and four
half square triangles cut from random 2-7/8" squares...
Sew the four random calico half square triangles to the Color 3 half
square triangles, using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, to make a
total of four half squares. Press to the darker side. These should
measure 2-1/2". Trim if needed...
