To make a template for the handle piece, draw a 14-7/8" square on a
large piece of paper. Draw the diagonal line. Crease in both directions to find the
center. Using a compass, draw a circle that comes to within 1 1/2" of the squares
edges. Draw another circle 1 1/2" within the first, or whatever width pleases you.
Add 1/4" around the outside circle, and inside circle to give you 1/4 " to
turn under. Cut this out. Lay the template on the 14-7/8" square of Color 2. Cut out
the handle, cutting in half to get two handles from each 14-7/8" square... |

Press under the 1/4" seam allowances, snipping up to but not beyond
the 1/4" point, as needed to get the handle to lay flat. Pin this to the Color 1
14-7/8" triangle. Appliqué in place using thread to match the handle... |

Piece the half square triangles as shown at left. First make rows, and
then sew the rows together... |

Sew a Color 2 half square triangle to the left end of a Color 1 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle. Sew the other Color 2 HST to the right end of the
other Color 1 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle. Press seam allowances towards
the rectangles... |

Sew one of the previously made units to the right side of the half squares
unit, and the other to the bottom. Press seam allowances towards the half square unit...on
