** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
|
|
Using the template provided cut four pentagons from the Color 1 and Color 2 4" x 17" strips... |
|
|
Now cut the Color 2 5" x 9" strip into four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles... |

|
Next cut the Color 1 and Color 2 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" strips into two 2-3/4" squares of each. Stack the squares and cut them across both diagonals to make eight quarter square triangles of each... |

Using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, sew together four of each triangle arrangement shown at left. Press seam to darker sides... |

Now sew the Color 1 and Color 2 pentagons together using a scant 1/4" seam. Make four sets like this, pressing seams to darker side. Sew the pieced triangles we made in the step above to the sides of the pentagon units, pressing seams towards pentagons...on to Page 2! |
