To sew the block's middle unit, sew one pair of each of the pieced
triangles I show at left. Again, use a scant 1/4" seam, and press
to the dark side...

Sew the last two Color 2 side triangles to the sides of the center
square, again pressing to the dark side with each...

Join the pieced triangles of the middle row to the center square unit.
Square this off to measure 6-1/2" x 12-12". Sew the side
units to the center unit...and there's one Empire Star Block!
There was a time when almost ALL piecing was done with
templates...this is a good skill to possess! ...on to Page
