Drunkard's Chain -
Page 2 |

|
This next part is an enlarged
view, so you can see the drunkards process more easily! First mark the centers of both the convex and concave
pieces, where they will be joined. Then snip each of the concave pieces up to, but not
past the scant 1/4" sewing line. (If it's easier for you, you
can draw in where the 1/4" sewing line will be) Now pin the concave pieces to the alternate color
convex pieces, right sides together, matching centers and outer edges, and edges aligned.
Baste along the scant 1/4" seam line. Distribute fullness evenly, and the SEW along
the sewing line. Do this with each of the eight combo squares to get
your Drunkard's squares. Press seams towards larger piece. Trim these back to be 4-1/2" square if
needed... |

Sew your half squares to the
small Color 2 squares in pairs, using the ever present SCANT
1/4" seams. Join the pairs as shown at left, pressing seams to
one side. Trim these back to be 4-1/2" square if needed.

Next, piece the block, as shown
at left. First make rows, pressing alternate rows left and right,
then join the rows to make the block. Finis! :o)
