** Preparing
the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |
First using the template provided
cut the Color 1 and 2 3-1/2" x 18-3/4" strips into four
parallelograms each, as shown at left. Have
the template upside down to cut Color 1, right side up to cut Color
2...
Next cut your Color 3 3-1/2" x 14"
strip into four 3-1/2" squares... |
Then using the triangle template cut the Color 4
7-1/4" square into four quarter square triangles...
Using a scant 1/4" seam sew a Color 1 and Color
2 parallelogram together along one long side, sewing from a point 1/4" in from the
end to a point 1/4" from the other end. Sew two with Color 1 on
top. Sew two with Color 2 on top. Leave ends open! Make four of these units... |
To inset (miter) in the Color 3 corner square, align
the square right sides together with one short end of the Color 1 parallelogram, as shown. Sew 1/4" from
the edge to a point 1/4" from the other edge of the square. Backstitch at beginning
and end of seam... |
Now pivot the square up to match the free end of the
other parallelogram, and stitch, using the same scant 1/4" seam.
Repeat this with the other three corner squares and parallelogram
sets. Backstitch at beginning and end of seams...on to Page
2! |
